FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA/Gray News) – A woman in Indiana is accused of driving more than 100 mph before flipping her car in a crash that killed her sister and a 6-year-old girl.
According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, just before 8 p.m. in November 2024, an SUV left the road and rolled several times, landing in a ditch.
The driver, Jourdan Hudson, is accused of driving more than 100 mph just before the crash that claimed the lives of 25-year-old Jaiden Samaria Marquis Newbolt and 6-year-old Nalani Ella Ervins.
Authorities said they were on the way to a birthday party.
“The defendant, placing the children in the car, voluntarily took responsibility for their health and safety while driving them to the birthday party,” Allen County Sheriff’s Deputy Russell Collins wrote in his report. “
Hudson has been charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, two counts of reckless homicide and a lesser neglect charge.
The charges carry a potential sentence of more than 70 years in prison.
An initial hearing in the case has not yet been set.
