A busy Ayrshire road has been closed following a crash on Monday morning.

Police are urging motorists to avoid the A737 between Dalry and Beith following the incident which occurred shortly before 4.50am.

The road is currently closed in both directions between the Manrahead and Highfield roundabouts and emergency services are on the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “The A737 is closed in both directions between Manrahead and Highfield roundabouts following a crash reported around 4.50am.

“There is no access to the A737 between the two roundabouts.

“Emergency services are in attendance.

“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes.”
