Crime and Public Safety | Man stabbed to death inside Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens

A 63-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday morning inside Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens, police said.

A 23-year-old man was taken into custody and is being questioned, police said.

It wasn’t clear what sparked the attack or if the victim was a patient, visitor or staff. It also wasn’t clear if the man in custody is a patient, visitor or staff.

Police responded to the hospital on Winchester Blvd. in Queens Village after the victim was found and 911 was called.

The victim, stabbed in the back of the neck and lower back, died at the scene. The murder weapon, a knife, was recovered, police said.
