Dumfries motorists are being advised to “proceed with care” at major town centre junction due to faulty traffic lights.

Problems have been reported with the signals at the Dockhead turning at the end of the Whitesands.

Dumfries and Galloway Council has warned that while the lights are now on, there may be times they are not working and drivers should take extra care.

A Facebook post read: “We are aware of the issues affecting the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing at the Dockhead junction in Dumfries.

“Although the lights are back on, further work is needed to ensure the timings of the signals return to normal.

“If you approach the junction and find the traffic lights are not working, treat the situation as you would an unmarked junction and proceed with care.

“Thanks for your understanding while we resolve this problem.”
