A pub in Harthill has successfully applied for permission to expand its guest accommodation by adding pods.

The identical two outbuildings will function as an extension to the existing business while new parking spaces will also be provided. They also include their own decking areas.

North Lanarkshire Council’s planning department authorised the development despite concerns from from the roads department, which stated issues with the adjacent private car park would be exacerbated by the development, and also restricted driver visibility for cars accessing West Main Street.

This was justified with the planners stating the parking spaces would be contained within the development site itself, and therefore the car park would be unaffected, while refusing permission due to the visibility concerns was not considered to be appropriate due to other applications having been granted.

Therefore planning permission was granted subject to conditions.
