Authorities in New Jersey are investigating the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl in a car with a female relative, who was wounded in the bloody attack.

Cianna Lee was in a car in Jersey City with a 37-year-old female relative when the two were shot, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement Sunday. Police were called just after 11 p.m. Saturday to the shooting at Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street, prosecutors said.

“Responding officers located two female victims with apparent gunshot wounds inside of a motor vehicle on Oak Street,” Suarez’s statement said.

Both were taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where Cianna was pronounced dead just after 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Investigators classified her death as a homicide; the cause and manner will be determined by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, authorities said.

The other victim was treated for a “non-fatal gunshot wound” and was in stable condition, police said.

“No arrests have been made at this time,” Suarez’s statement said. Investigators are asking the public to come forward with any information about the attack.

The slaying was the second homicide in Jersey City this month, the Jersey City Times noted. On Jan. 3, Rahmiere Morris, 20, was fatally shot in Greenville; a 17-year-old male was arrested in the case.
