A Scots Jet2 flight has been forced to divert after declaring a mid-air emergency over Paris.

The LS135 aircraft departed Glasgow at 7am on Monday and was due to land in Rome, Italy, later today.

However, pilots declared an emergency (squawk 7700) one hour and 30 minutes into the flight.

The Boeing 737-800 turned around over Paris. AirLive reports it has diverted to London Gatwick.

The flight’s route map shows the Jet2 aircraft leaving Glasgow and travelling south before U-turning above the French capital.

The nature of the on-board incident is currently unknown.

The Record has approached the airline for comment.
