PRINCETON, W.Va. -The Mercer County School Board met for a special session at the Mercer County Technical Educational Seminar Center Monday morning.
This special session meeting was scheduled to discuss the evaluation of the current Superintendent Ed Toman’s contract.
The meeting started at 9 a.m. with a motion to move into an executive session that ended around noon. At around 11 a.m., board members pulled Toman into the room to discuss in private until 11:30 a.m.
Several Mercer County school employees that were at the meeting all wearing black, showing unification in support of change.
At the end of the session WVVA asked president of the board Greg Prudich for an interview which he first accepted and then declined after a few moments.
“It’s a personnel matter and that is why we went into executive session,” said Prudich.
Our Abby Lester asked, “when will employees of Mercer County know anything about this issue?”
Prudich responded, “The board will take it up very soon.”
There has not been a definite answer on when the board will bring up this issue again, but the next Mercer County Board of Education meeting is January 27 at 6 p.m. at the MCTEC Seminar Center.
