MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV) – Saturday night against #2 Iowa State, Mountaineer Nation will honor and celebrate the life, service and legacy of Jerry West.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer has joined in to help honor the legendary Jerry West, gifting West Virginia University $5 million to help the student body pursue their degrees.

According to WVU Athletics, half of the gift will establish a new fund to support completion grants at the University, and the remaining funds will bolster the Jerry West Scholarship, which goes to undergraduate students with financial need.

Officials said this gift will ensure that future generations of WVU students will have the opportunity to discover their purpose just like Jerry West did.
