Barron Trump has been praised for showcasing “impeccable manners” just moments after his dad Donald took the oath of office as the 47th president of the United States.

All eyes were on the ceremonial proceedings as the 78-year-old was inaugurated by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts at the Capitol on Monday. Trump recited the presidential oath with his right hand lifted, while his wife Melania held two very significant bibles – one a family heirloom from his mother and the other, which was previously used by Abraham Lincoln among others, the historic Lincoln Bible.

Members of the new President’s family made their way into the grand Capitol Rotunda before the solemn swearing-in. Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr, and Ivanka Trump were all present to witness the momentous event – and midst the family, young Barron Trump stood out as he demonstrated a gracious gesture post-inauguration. He approached Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, who were stepping down from their roles, extended his hand for a warm handshake.

As reported by the Irish Star, a lip-reading expert, Jeremy Freeman, interpreted Barron’s conversation with Biden as “G’day to you sir”, and with Harris, “Ma’am, good day”. This encounter earned Barron considerable praise online, with the video quickly circulating across X and earning commendation for his “class”.

Social media users have expressed their admiration, with remarks about Barron’s upbringing, such as “Barron has been raised right”, and some even humorously suggesting “Barron Trump 2044 campaign starts now”. On X/Twitter, Miss Meg echoed the sentiments of many, saying: “Such a classy, well brought up young man. As a mother, I am moved. God bless him.”

President Trump swept into Washington on Saturday evening, ready to revel with family, fans and fellow politicians before his second swearing-in. Jetting off from West Palm, Florida, Trump was accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron aboard a military C-32 aircraft, the flight poignantly nicknamed Special Air Mission 47 in homage to Trump taking the oath as the nation’s 47th president.

In a powerful inaugural address, President Trump vowed to reassert national control, promising a new era where “our sovereignty will be reclaimed. Our safety will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced”.
