Farmers from across Dumfries and Galloway are set to protest against proposed changes to inheritance tax on Saturday.
A tractor rally has been organised at Wallet Marts, in Castle Douglas, so that NFU Scotland members can highlight the potential damage the UK Government’s proposed changes could cause.
They also aim to use the day to thank the public for their support.
The UK Government is proposing to change agricultural property relief, with a 20-per cent inheritance tax on farm businesses worth more than £1million.
Saturday’s rally is part of NFU Scotland’s #StopTheFamilyFarmTax day of action, with those taking part gathering at Wallets Mart at around 11.15am.
Participants will have the chance to raise their concerns with politicians before heading off on the rally from 1pm.
Everyone is welcome to take part or attend but those planning to do so are asked to inform regional manager Mhairi Dawson in advance.
She can be contacted on 07718 425053 or [email protected].
The UK’s four agricultural unions are planning rallies and events on Saturday in a bid to show the unity and strength of the campaign.
