Coronation Street favourite Colson Smith has received a wave of support from fans as his next major move alongside two co-stars has come to light.
Fans of the actor have been left gutted following the news he will soon be leaving the cobbles, as his portrayal of Craig Tinker in the ITV soap draws to a close this year.
It comes after Colson announced back in March that his journey as the beloved police officer is nearing an end, following discussions came with showrunners who decided Craig’s story was coming to an end.
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old marked his 14th anniversary on the soap this summer, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The actor took to social media on both Twitter and Instagram to address the news, sporting his police uniform with pride. He wrote: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker’s time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I’ve loved every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the greatest street in the world.”
He continued: “I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I’ve learned pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy.”

However Colson, along with co-stars Jack P Shepherd and Ben Price, won’t be straying away from working together, as they co-host the On the Sofa podcast where they share tales from their lives, chat about their work, and cover a variety of other topics.
The trio is set to entertain audiences once more, having already successfully sold out live events in both London and Manchester. Detailing their latest plans on the On the Sofa Instagram, they announced: “ON THE SOFA LIVE IS COMING TO LEEDS!”
The announcement continued, “Big news, as the live show returns on Friday 7th March… and we’re in LEEDS! In partnership with our friends at @visitleeds, it’ll be our biggest and best live show yet. We’re thrilled to be in God’s Own Country for ONE NIGHT ONLY. It’s a Yorkshire homecoming for Colson and Jack… and Ben will be there too.

Colson was among the first to react to the announcement, exclaiming: “LEEDS LEEDS LEEDS,” while Emmerdale star Danny Miller let his excitement show by commenting: “I’ll see you there.”
The announcement has also sparked joy among fans. One person wrote: “We will be there.” Someone else shared: “Exciting! ! ! ” Another chimed in: “We will welcome Ben to Gods own country,” as a fourth simply quipped: “Wonderful.”
