A young man who was caught trying to smuggle drugs worth almost £100,000 into Scotland could be facing a jail sentence.
Gregor Campbell was caught with cannabis, a Class B drug, in his luggage at Glasgow Airport on March 11 last year.
Procurator fiscal depute Abigail McKenna told Paisley Sheriff Court that Campbell had travelled to Glasgow Airport from Bangkok in Thailand via Dubai.
Ms McKenna explained the drugs weighed 24kg and had an estimated value of £92,000. The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cannabis.
Sheriff Thomas Ward stated: “You were concerned in the supply of a very substantial amount of drugs. You haven’t been in jail before so I need to call for reports.”
Sentence was deferred for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment. Campbell, of Smith Drive, Campbeltown, Argyll & Bute, had his bail continued.
