The list of Scottish finalists at the British Kebab Awards 2025 have been unveiled.
Scotland is home to countless restaurants and takeaways that serve up mouth-watering kebabs. Whether you love a sit-down meal or are a fan of a kebab on the way home from a night out, we are spoilt for choice.
On Tuesday (January 21), the finalists for the British Kebab Awards were revealed. The annual awards celebrate the top local kebab takeaways and restaurants in the UK across a range of categories.
Among the prizes set to be handed out is the Best Kebab House in Scotland gong. A total of 10 restaurants and takeaways are in the running to take home the coveted award, located all around the country.
Glasgow dominates the Best Kebab House in Scotland category, with five eateries on the shortlist. BABS, Hajar’s Shawarma, King Roj Shawarma, Shawarma King, and Shawarma Star – Charcoal Grill are among the nominees for the prize.
Edinburgh is the only other Scottish city to appear on the list of finalists, with Memed Barbecue Grill & Meze Bar vying for the award. Rounding out the nominees are Best Kebab and Pizza House in Arbroath, Best Kebab and Pizza House Alloa in Alloa, Polski Kebab in Motherwell, and Spices in Belshill.
Elsewhere, the London Borough of Barnet leads the competition with nine kebab restaurants and vans in the finals. Kensington and Chelsea is second with seven finalists, with Camden, Liverpool, and Westminster tied for third with six eateries each in the finals.
Founder of the British Kebab Awards Ibrahim Dogus commented: “The competition is heating up, and we’ll be revealing British best kebab restaurants in less than a month. London may dominate the finalists, but Liverpool, Glasgow and Belfast are all punching above their weight and showing the strength in depth across the country’s kebab houses.
“This year’s nominees represent everything that makes the British kebab industry special – diversity, quality, tradition, and innovation, and we’re proud to be highlighting the leaders in this great industry.”
The British Kebab Awards will take place on February 26 at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London. The full list of finalists can be found on the British Kebab Awards website.
