LEWISBURG, W.Va. – A Greenbrier County woman is behind bars after a Renick man was injured in a Monday night shooting.
Greenbrier County Sheriff Bart Baker said Tyler Truman, 36, is charged with attempted murder in the shooting of Stephen Bennett, 48.
Baker said the incident was reported at 10:45 p.m. and officers were dispatched to a residence on Leanard Long Road in Renick, where both Bennett and Truman reside along with five children.
Bennett had been shot in the head and was flown to a trauma center in Virginia and Truman was taken into custody, processed and transported to Southern Regional Jail.
Child Protective Services was contacted to assist with the children.
The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the West Virginia State Police, Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service and the Greenbrier County Emergency Operations Center. The crime scene was processed by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Team.
Sgt. M. Doss of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office is the lead investigator.
