Feyenoord and Bayern Munich’s match was temporarily suspended moments after kick-off due to a sea of green flares.
The Champions League clash between two storied clubs at De Kuip will have got pulses racing. But Harry Kane, Vincent Kompany and co were left frustrated after heavy smoke emanated by the wave of pyrotechnics in the stands. The referee was forced to halt proceedings in the second minute with the officials and players unable to see much at all.
The match was hit by a seven-minute delay before the teams got back to it and the smoke had mostly cleared from the fireworks and smoke bombs. Despite the distraction Feyenoord themselves were in explosive form, striking first through Santiago Gimenez in the 21st minute. The Mexican followed it up with a penalty just before half time to level the Bavarians stunned.
