A Hamilton construction and property firm has expanded after taking over a surveying and consultancy company to add to its business portfolio.

Procast has acquired Glasgow-based JC+P Property and Construction Consultants – previously known as James Clark & Partners Scotland – in a six-figure deal described as a “significant acquisition” which “continues its plans to add a new business to its roster each year”.

Its six staff will now transfer to be based at Procast’s headquarters on Alness Street in Hamilton, with the surveying, cost consultancy and project management business now hiring quantity and building surveyors.

Procast has more than 130 staff and is described as “a market leader in retrofitting work and innovative multi-trade contracting projects across Scotland and the north of England”. The company says: “The move allows for both businesses to lean into each other’s expertise, offer more value to clients, partner up on frameworks and submit bids together for new contracts.”

Owner and managing director Derek Innes said: “As we look to continue our growth and expand further, the addition of JC+P to the Procast family is a huge boost – particularly focusing on our work in retrofitting, the expertise we’ll gain will be crucial in delivering more properties, including harder to treat ones, with improved design and build capabilities.

“We’ll be helping to train and invest in its staff, most of whom are long-serving which was a huge selling point for me. This is a huge asset to our business and will really elevate our offering to our clients.”

Gordon Ross, a director who has been with JC+P for more than 20 years, has been appointed managing director and will now sit on the Procast Group board.

He said: “We are excited to become part of the Procast Group and being able to enhance the range of services the group can offer, and are looking forward to growing and working together.

“Derek and the team have built an award-winning business with a highly-respected reputation for both delivery of projects and investing and developing the people within their organisation; this ethos and approach is something which we share.”

Procast works primarily with housing associations and local authorities – including their current project with West of Scotland housing association to build a 12 social housing flats at the new Mitchell Court development at the former Low Waters bowling green – while JC+P work on private developments, commercial property and education.

The Hamilton firm was named project management company of the year at the 2024 national energy efficiency awards, their second consecutive honour at the annual industry ceremony.

Acquiring JC+P, which has a turnover of £640,000, means the company now has eight business divisions, alongside Procast building contractors, energy services and property services, plus Brimar Electrical Solutions, Thermsaver Heating Solutions, CHES and Curtis Heating.
