Michelle Keegan‘s hit series Brassic, which airs on Sky TV, has been cancelled following an impressive seven-season run.
The filming for the seventh instalment is currently underway, with the previous six seasons garnering high praise from audiences, reports the Express.
Series co-creator and writer Danny Brocklehurst announced: “When Joe Gilgun and I sat down to create Brassic, we couldn’t have imagined, in our wildest dreams, that we would do seven series and gather such a loyal and loving fan base.”
He added: “It’s been a complete joy to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end, and we want to stop while we are still riding high. Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA.”
A Sky spokesperson remarked on the show’s impact: “Fans very quickly became attached to this dynamic group of friends, as they found unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia.”
Further expressing gratitude, the spokesperson said: “We would like to thank Joe Gilgun, Danny Brocklehurst and the whole cast and crew – past and present – for bringing us all a truly iconic series, which we’ve loved for its special mix of hilarity and heart.”
Keegan, who joined Brassic post-Coronation Street, and roles in major TV dramas including Ten Pound Poms and Our Girl, had recently enjoyed success with Netflix’s 2024 hit Fool Me Once and explored her comedic side in ITV’s historical sitcom Plebs.
The cancellation news has hit fans hard, with many taking to social media to express their upset. One fan shared: “Devastated about #Brassic being cancelled… a hell of a show.”
Another fan chimed in: “Six years late to the party, but over the last couple of months I have watched all six seasons of #Brassic, and I think it is one of the best British shows of this century. It is absolutely superb. You will laugh and you will cry, and I can’t recommend it enough.”
