SAN ANTONIO — Multiple agencies are investigating a “concerning” social media post that hinted about potential violence at Uvalde High School on Wednesday, according to Uvalde CISD.

District officials say they are aware of the post and Uvalde PD is working with Texas DPS and the Uvalde CISD Police Department to investigate the threat.

Uvalde CISD says the post has since been removed but additional law enforcement personnel will be on school campuses Wednesday as a precaution. Details of the post were not released.

“Our district and local law enforcement take social media threats very seriously and will prosecute those who make such threats when possible. By remaining diligent, we can work together to maintain a safe school environment,” Uvalde CISD Superintendent Ashley Chohlis said in a release.

The district says they are working closely with local and state law enforcement agencies to actively monitor social media for any alarming, concerning or threatening posts.

Uvalde CISD urges parents, guardians and faculty to check their Uvalde CISD email and to keep communication channels open and alert. They say they will be providing updates as the investigation continues.

This comes less than a week after hoax or swatting calls were made to Uvalde CISD and other San Antonio-area schools.
