A woman will stand trial later this year charged with the murder of Rutherglen grandmother Ann Coll.

Claire Kilduff, 38, is accused of killing Ann at a flat in Newfield Place, Rutherglen, Lanarkshire on December 21 or 22, 2023.

It is claimed Kilduff repeatedly struck the 61 year-old with an “unknown implement or implements” as well as stab her with something “sharp”.

Kilduff is separately alleged to have transferred £320 from the woman’s bank account into her own and also taken a mobile phone. Among other accusations are that she attempted to defeat the ends of justice.

The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today where Kilduff’s legal team pleaded not guilty on her behalf.

Lord Matthews set a trial scheduled to take place in October 2025.

Ann was found with serious injuries at the flat just days before Christmas at around 12.45am on Friday, December 22, 2023, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The mother of three and grandmother of eight was described as someone who was well known across the Rutherglen community.

Detective Chief Inspector Lynsey Watters previously said: “Our thoughts remain with Ann’s loved ones who have been left devastated by her death. As a family they should have enjoyed the festive season together but instead spent it grieving a terrible loss.”

She added: “They’re pulling together as a family. It’s a real family unit.

”Ann is well known across the local community and was someone who loved to walk her collie dog Lola around the area. The community, as ever, always step up.

“”They’ve been very supportive of the investigation, and happy to engage with us.”

A fundraiser launched on behalf of Ann’s family, raised over £7000 within days of the incident. A statement on the GoFundMe page read: “We are looking to raise funds on behalf of Kris, Nicola, Stephanie and all of their family following the tragic death of their beautiful mum, Ann.

“Ann was a much-loved mum, gran, sister, auntie and friend and was adored by all that knew her. She touched the hearts of all around her and will never ever be forgotten.

“Anything you can donate, no matter how big or small, would make a massive difference during this horrific time, ensuring Ann gets the send-off she deserves.”
