It may be scary to think about but this year will mark 20 years since the creation of YouTube in February 2005. As much as TikTok and Instagram Reels take up a lot of our screen time, there was a time when every creator you watched would be on YouTube.

Back in the mid-2010s YouTube was led by the British gang of Zoella, Joe Sugg, Caspar Lee and many more. Many of these creators are still relevant today but they are nowhere near the current highest earning internet celebrities on the platform. But which YouTuber has the highest net worth?

Many would throw Jake Paul’s name into the ring, who originally became famous on the extinct platform ‘Vine’, where he had millions of followers. He moved his content over to YouTube after Vine’s demise, where he continued to be popular for his prank and music videos.

Another solid option would be PewDiePie, mostly known for his gaming videos, with his original video on the website gaining over 21 million views, reports the Express.

Despite both of these being very valid suggestions, as they both individually earn a substantial amount of money, neither of them make the top stop. In fact, their net worth combined don’t even reach the net worth of the richest YouTuber.

All of these YouTubers make a mind-blowing amount of money, enough that might give you a headache if you think about it too much. Jake Paul’s net worth is a staggering $80 million (£65m) and he has a whopping 20.9 million subscribers.

In his own right, PewDiePie is worth $45 million and has 110 million subscribers, making their joint net worth $120 million with 130.9 million subscribers between them – this is not taking into account a cross over of subscribers.

However, these numbers look like child’s play compared to the richest YouTuber who has an astonishing 344 million subscribers. No wonder they have a net worth of over a billion, but who is it?

If you guessed Mr Beast, then you would be correct. Jimmy Donaldson, the man behind the YouTube moniker, has been crowned the world’s richest Youtuber. The channel originally gained viral fame when he completed tough challenge videos, with a video of him counting to 100,000 attracting waves of attention after taking 40 hours to complete.

Mr Beast is also extremely generous, with many of his videos involving philanthropy, which his followers enjoy, and giving large sums of money to everyday people. He also allegedly said that he would buy TikTok to save it from getting banned in America – a move that many would have supported.
