SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police Chief William McManus confirmed that four officers have been shot in Stone Oak on Wednesday evening.
He also referred to the scene as a “suicide in progress.”
The department later reported to media that the officers’ injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
The incident began at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sonterra Heights apartment complex in the 18700 block of Stone Oak Parkway on the city’s far north side.
McManus later spoke with reporters near the scene and indicated that the suspect is a male in his 40s and he has not been captured yet.
SWAT team members were arriving at the scene to try to manage the situation.
A resident of the apartment complex told KENS 5 that he “heard a loud pop” and then saw helicopters overhead. He later hear a series of shots fired.
Additional information was not immediately available. Two KENS 5 crews were monitoring developments near the scene.
