BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – A domestic altercation has left a Bluefield woman behind bars.
Carly Gess, 24, has been charged with domestic battery after Bluefield Police Department officers responded to a call at an apartment on Hill Avenue on Jan. 19.
According to the criminal complaint, while the officers were enroute to the apartment they were notified by dispatch there were weapons involved and a male on the scene had cut himself.
When they arrived, officers provided medical help for the man, identified as Damion Kell, and also found a knife covered in blood. The complaint said Gess was interviewed and indicated a simple argument escalated into violence and she ran into another apartment with Kell following her.
A TV and cell phone were damaged during the altercation, which ended when Kell reportedly confessed his love for Gess and cut himself, the complaint said.
Kell was transported for medical treatment and Gess was arrested and charged with domestic battery. Charges against Kell are pending as the investigation continues.
Gess remains incarcerated at Southern Regional Jail on a $1,500 cash only bond.
Gess is also still facing domestic battery, domestic assault and battery on officer charges stemming from a July 2024 incident. A status hearing on those charges has been scheduled for March 19.
