A shoplifter who attacked store staff and police officers has been jailed for more than 18 months.

Nicole Randall’s lawyer claimed she is a “lovely” person when not under the influence of substances.

But the 33-year-old is no stranger to the police and she admitted a string of charges at Airdrie Sheriff Court.

These included five counts of attacking shop workers in Airdrie and four of assaulting police officers.

Randall, who appeared from custody, also admitted 10 charges of shoplifting and theft as well as theft by housebreaking, threatening or abusive behaviour, racially aggravated behaviour and breaching bail.

Sheriff Joseph Hughes expressed concern that Randall had continued to offend despite being released from custody time after time.

He warned her that any future offending will probably result in her being remanded until the case is dealt with.

The sheriff imposed jail sentences totalling 550 days.
