PRINCETON, W.Va. – A Princeton woman is facing numerous charges after an incident at Walmart on Greasy Ridge Road on Dec. 19.
Cristen Meador, 38, was arrested after the West Virginia State Police was called regarding a shoplifting report that then escalated into a pursuit by car and on foot.
A man, Paul Hoston, 60, also of Princeton, was charged in the case as well.
According to the criminal complaint, State Trooper Corporal M.D. Brooks caught up with the vehicle that reportedly had left Walmart with a suspect who had taken a 50-inch TV.
After the vehicle was pulled over, a female exited the passenger side and fled on foot towards Wildlife Lane. After a foot chase and verbal commands, the woman, later identified as Meador, stopped and was taken into custody.
The complaint said Hoston was the driver of the car and was also placed under arrest. He was found to be driving with a suspended license after six previous convictions on that charge.
Meador was also found to have a capias through Mercer County Magistrate Court for failing to appear on a previous shoplifting charge as well three outstanding third-offense shoplifting warrants.
Meador’s charges include shoplifting, third offense (felony), fleeing an officer, conspiracy, property damage (damage to Walmart door) and obstructing an officer.
She remains incarcerated at Southern Regional Jail on cash-only bonds totaling $19,000.
Hoston faces charges on the suspended license as well as conspiracy and improper use of registration. He is free on a $1,000 bond.
