TAZEWELL Va. – The Tazewell Police Department is asking the community for donations for their first “Stuff the Truck” event.
This event will be held on National Change A Pet’s Life Day Friday. People can bring pet items including, dog and cat food, treats, toys, bedding, and cleaning supplies.
All items will be donated to the Tazewell County Animal Shelter to help local homeless animals. Items will also be used to stock the animal pantry and help Tazewell pet owners that need help keeping their animals warm.
Tazewell Police officer Missy Woodard says this event is important to have to help the animal shelter throughout the winter.
“Other agencies sometimes have these same events during the summer months, and we feel that it’s important to do it also in the winter months because some people will need straw and food and other things as well. The shelter is there to provide that for them,” said Woodard.
Donations can be dropped off at the Tazewell Police Department at 140 Hillsboro Dive in North Tazewell tomorrow (Friday) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
