When it comes to celebrity skincare, thoughts of high-end brands and matching price-tags might often come to mind.

However, that isn’t always the case, with a few A-lister’s opting for affordable products we can all buy from the high street. One cream with a cult following, that is said to include Gavin and Stacey’s Joanna Page, costs under £6.

It’s Nivea’s Creme Moisturising Cream that has been praised for its “timeless” formula that leaves skin “virtually wrinkle free”. A favourite since 1911, this “classic” moisturiser remains a firm favourite among celebrities and regular beauty buffs alike.

According to Woman and Home, the 47 year-old Welsh actress has been sticking to Nivea’s “cheapest” cream to keep her glowing, youthful appearance. With a large 400ml tin costing just £5.25 on Amazon, it certainly won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

This multi-tasking formula serves as a cream for the face, hands and body. Providing “long lasting” care and “48-hour moisture”, it has been designed to keep your skin hydrated all day long, which is ideal for the changing weather conditions.

Designed for daily use, the “rich” texture of this thicker cream has been praised in reviews that suggest it “sinks into your skin”, leaving it glowing silky smooth and a perfect base for makeup application.

It’s not just the Gavin and Stacey star who is a fan, as the Nivea Creme currently averages a 4.5 rating on Amazon based on nearly 7,000 reviews from a devoted fan base that have been using it for years, with praise saying it is “unbeatable” for the price.

One user who called it “timeless” hailed: “The iconic blue tin is a classic, and a little goes a long way, making it excellent value for money. If you’re looking for a reliable, effective, and affordable moisturizer, Nivea Cream is unbeatable. Highly recommend it for keeping your skin healthy and happy year-round!”

A second shopper remarked: “Don’t waste money on expensive moisturisers because you cannot get better than this. Just look at the skin of women who have used it for years and you will find that they are virtually wrinkle free.”

Another devoted fan said: “Nivea for over 50 years has been the best moisturiser for face and body. Its reassuring thickness and creamy texture melts into the skin and leaves it soft and silky. An everyday cream to prevent those wrinkles which some people who haven’t used Nivea all their lives later require.”

One shopper found the “extremely thick” formula not suitable for using on their face, writing: “The product is extremely thick and very difficult to blend into the skin. I do not think this is suitable for the face. Once blended in it so very moisturising and it is good value for the amount of product that you get.”

A 400ml tin of Nivea Creme is on offer for £5.25, down from £9.99, on Amazon here.

For another celebrity-backed product, Astral’s Intensive Moisturiser (500ml), £9.99 at Superdrug, has been a staple for Dame Joanna Lumley. Alternatively, the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Nourishing Moisturiser (30ml), £13.65 at Boots, is a favourite of Michelle Keegan and Lady Gaga.
