PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) – Two men were electrocuted in a farming accident in Virginia, according to authorities.
The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called Thursday afternoon to the Dry Fork community for what was first reported as a structure fire.
Deputies found the two men unresponsive. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office identified the victims as 24-year-old Juan Arizmendi and 67-year-old Phillip Hylton, both local to the area.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said the initial investigation indicates that the farming equipment the men were using accidentally made contact with high voltage lines.
Taylor said the men appeared to have been electrocuted, but their bodies were taken to the coroner, where the cause and manner of death will be determined.
