Kilmarnock’s big top circus tent has collapsed after suffering catastrophic wind damage.
The structure, based at Ayrshire Athletics arena has suffered severe damage as Storm Éowyn batters the nation.
East Ayrshire Leisure say that precautions were taken ahead of the severe weather front moving in.
The temporary venue was set to host five shows before the end of January, including a concert with The Voice semi-finalist Jeremy Levif.
The Big Top was also home to Kilmarnock’s pantomime – Goldilocks and the Three Bears – during its festive run throughout November and December.
A spokesperson for East Ayrshire Leisure said: “The Big Top at Ayrshire Athletics Arena has suffered severe damage in the storms.
“Ahead of the Red Wind Warning, from the Met Office specialist contractors were called in to advise on the correct course of action to secure the structure.
“Anchors were in place and all essential work was carried out including the removal of structural parts most at risk.
“However, the majority of the structure has now collapsed and whilst specialist staff will secure the area as much as possible in current weather conditions, and when it is deemed safe to do so, members of the public are advised to stay away from the area.
“More information will follow.”
