A Scots street has been locked down after suspected weapons were found within a home. The operation is taking place in Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, this evening.

Officers were called to attend a property in Branchalfield Drive in the village, near Wishaw, at around 7:30pm and the street was shut off to the public. An investigation is ongoing.

Police Scotland said: “Emergency services are in attendance at a property on Branchalfield Drive, Cambusnethan, Wishaw, following a report of items of potential historic ordnance having been found within.

The report was received around 7.30pm on Friday, 24 January, 2025. A cordon is in place as a precaution and Explosive Ordnance Disposal will be attending to assess the items.”

Motherwell and Wishaw MSP Clare Adamson posted about the incident on social media. A Facebook post read: “All affected residents have been informed and moved to safety.”
