BARTLETT, Texas — An animal cruelty investigation is underway after a dog died this week in Central Texas after they were allegedly left outside during freezing winter temperatures.
On Tuesday, two dogs were found in an open kennel with no water or food at a property in Bartlett, Texas, just over 50 miles northeast of Austin.
A Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control officer arrived to the property to find the dogs, one of which showed signs of medical distress. The officer secured both dogs, but one of them did not survive.
A seizure order was acquired, and both dogs were taken to the Williamson County Animal Shelter.
Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy report of the dog that died as the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate.
