A fundraiser has already raised more than £1900 for a tragic Scots six year old who was found dead at home next to her dad on January 20.

Hope Gordon was found dead by police after failing to turn up to school sparking a welfare check on Monday afternoon at the family home in West Calder, West Lothian.

Following a postmortem, a murder probe is now ongoing into the youngster’s death. The earth-shattering news has devastated the community in both West Lothian, and Oban where the family originate from.

Nearly a week after little Hope was found dead, a fundraising page has been set up by a close family friend, to support the “sweet” girl’s family at this difficult time.

Melanie Wheeldon, a close friend of Hope’s family, wrote: “On January 20th, 2025, our hearts shattered as we learned of the tragic and senseless murder of 6-year-old Hope. Hope was a vibrant and loving little girl, known for her infectious smile, kind spirit, and deep love for animals.

“Hope’s life was tragically cut short, leaving a void in the hearts of her family and friends that can never be filled. This GoFundMe page has been created to help Hope’s family with the unexpected funeral expenses during this incredibly difficult time.

“Every contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser link with your friends and family to help spread the word.

“Let’s come together to honour Hope’s memory and offer support to her grieving family. May Hope’s gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Thank you for your compassion and support.”

Chief Superintendent Gregg Banks, Divisional Commander spoke about the tragedy earlier this week and said: “This is a shocking and deeply upsetting incident for the families involved, and the impact is felt right across the local community. I am grateful for the support received.

“We methodically complete essential enquires within the house in West Calder to ensure the families and local residents get the answers they deserve, and would ask that the family’s privacy is respected at this incredibly difficult time.

“There will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area and I would urge anyone with questions, concerns or information to approach a local officer – they are there to help.”
