The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office also helped with the smuggling bust.
SAN ANTONIO — Homeland Security San Antonio (HSISA) has confirmed that a man has been arrested for smuggling 16 “illegal aliens.”
On Wednesday, HSI, with the help of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search warrant at a residence in Laredo, resulting in the discovery 16 “illegal aliens” reportedly being smuggled by Abelardo Herrera.
Herrera reportedly had 13 warrants out for his arrest at the time of the bust. One of which was a case involving 12 smuggled individuals being found by BCSO on Jan. 14 off Fisher Road.
Herrera was arrested for his role in an alleged human smuggling “cell that stretched from Laredo to Bexar County.”
