PRINCETON, W.Va. -In Mercer County the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center is closing soon, but you still have time to report damages sustained from the remnants of Hurricane Helene.
The Disaster Recovery Center opened in December and has currently given out around $2 million in financial relief to residents in Mercer County.
Some assistance that can be provided includes rental, temporary housing, serious needs which do include diapers, formula, or medicine, and much more.
A spokeswoman for FEMA says disaster relief money is allocated for residents of Mercer County and any damage big or small can be reported.
“If you have any questions or any lingering concerns, if you have any changes in your application status, if you have new things that you have discovered that have been destroyed or if you are still waiting on your insurance claim, if you have anything like that, please keep in contact with us,” said Tiana Suber, FEMA Media relations Specialist.
Suber says it’s important to make sure you are registered before the deadline on February 7.
If you are in the system, you can still receive help after the deadline has passed.
