Jason Cundy has told ‘terrible’ Manchester United that Celtic would beat them to the Premiership crown as he labelled the Europa League showdown with Rangers as a STINKFEST.
The loud-mouth pundit has never been shy in slamming the quality of Scottish football when he gets the chance and once again he popped at Philippe Clement’s mean after their last-gasp defeat at Old Trafford. The talkSPORT host labelled the Scottish giants and Ruben Amorim’s side as ‘two terrible teams’ and questioned the football on show that he watched. Jack Butland’s own goal also came into the firing line.
Cundy then turned his attention to United and insisted from what he has seen from Celtic this season, that the EPL giants would NOT come up to Scotland and win the league. He went further and said he would not stick a single pound on Bruno Fernandes and Co and that Brendan Rodgers‘ troops – safely through to the Champions League play-off round – would give them a game.
Reacting after the whistle on talkSPORT he said: “Based on what I am looking at and the pictures I have seen from Celtic, I don’t think United would beat them in the Premiership.” Asked by co-host Jamie O’Hara if they would finish second, he replied: “Maybe”.
He then continued: “Looking at that. I wouldn’t put a pound of Cundy money on Man United to go up to the Premiership and win the title. Not one single pound. Celtic will give them a game. Those two teams out their stunk the game out. That was a terrible spectacle. It was a stinkfest of a game I thought.”
“Two terrible teams. What have I just watched? Seriously. Two teams that are just trying to find and fight a way to get something going. What was the Butland own goal all about? I don’t know how you do that. If you ask Jack Butland to punch the ball in his own goal when is trying to punch it one way, yet somehow gets a back spin on it. He wouldn’t be able to do it. It’s a bit of a freak goal.”
