Rangers fans were left in shock after a staff member was pushed by Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund during dramatic goal celebrations.
It was a bombastic end to this Europa League Battle of Britain clash at Old Trafford on Thursday night. Cyriel Dessers’ stunning 88th-minute drive looked to have secured a point for Gers at the Theatre Dreams. He had bailed out a Jack Butland howler which gave the Red Devils the lead.
But in added time, United captain Bruno Fernandes ghosted in behind Jefte to smash home the winner and clinch a 2-1 victory. As you can imagine the celebrations were wild with the Portuguese charging into the crowd to celebrate with his team mates. Little did Rangers assistant kitman, David MacGregor, know he was walking into a sea of red. With the full-time whistle about to blow MacGregor was heading to the dressing room for his post-match duties. As Fernandes ran to the crowd he almost collided with McGregor right in front of the TV cameras.
Fernandes cheered in his face before Hojlund got involved and the Danish striker laid hands on MacGregor and aggressively shoved him out of their way. It adds insult to injury for the Gers who now sit outside the Europa League last-16 spots in 13th place. But they have clinched a place in the play-off round.
