A Glasgow City Building gas engineer was injured after a tree smashed through the roof of his van during Storm Eowyn.

Emergency services were called to Balmore Road after the freak collision at 9:05 am on Friday, January 24.

A tree pierced through the top of the van roof and plunged through the windscreen. The young driver was treated by ambulance staff before being taken to hospital.

It is understood he needed stitches for a head injury.

Shocking video footage taken at the scene showed the tree still hanging out the roof of the van. The end of the branch can be seen smashed through the windscreen.
