A police officer had to run for cover as Storm Eowyn felled a tree right next to them – while they attended a call out of a tree blocking the road.
The officer had been called to attend a report of a tree down in Glasgow’s Penilee area, arriving at the scene in a squad car with a colleague.
But while they were out of the car and assessing the damage which had been caused, a larger tree next to them began to shake – and also fell down.
The moment the cop, clad in a hi-vis vest, had to run for cover was caught on camera. The footage showed other officers were also in attendance at the scene in a police van.
A cry of “Oh my God!” can be heard on the footage, which was shared on social media after the incident. The tree fell on top of a black car which was parked at the side of the road.
And the tree was so big that once it fell it covered a large part of the vehicle. It is unclear how much, if any, damage was caused to the parked car.
When asked to comment on the incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended a report of a tree on the road, there were no injuries.”
A red weather warning was issued by the Met Office ahead of Storm Eowyn, which has brought winds of up to 100-miles-per-hour. You can follow our Storm Eowyn live blog here.
