A red Met Office weather warning is due to come into effect on Friday morning, bringing with it the potential for wind gusts of up to 100mph.

Tesco has a string of stores across Dumfries and Galloway with three in Dumfries, as well as outlets in Annan, Lockerbie, Lochmaben, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Stranraer.

An email to customers from Tesco stated: “Due to red weather warnings, and to ensure the safety of our colleagues and customers, Tesco stores in your area will be closed on Friday, January 24.

“This means home delivery and click and collect orders scheduled for Friday from these stores will be cancelled. If you have a slot booked, we’ll contact you to confirm next steps.
