An Airbnb host was left utterly bewildered after receiving a booking with an eerie note attached. When we book a stay at an Airbnb, we often use the opportunity to communicate any specific needs or arrival times to our hosts.

However, a female Airbnb landlord recently had her jaw hit the floor when she got a peculiar message from a woman who booked on behalf of her husband. In a TikTok video, Donatella talked about the reservation, questioning if she was “reading into it” too much, or if there was indeed a cryptic intent behind the woman’s words.

She recounted her experience saying: “When the request first came through I honestly didn’t think anything of it. It was a very average request. But afterwards, their message kept replaying in my head and I was like, ‘Why would they make sure I knew that?'” She further added, highlighting the oddity: “Basically, it was a wife booking on behalf of her husband, and she was saying that the booking was for him for work. Absolutely fine, maybe she does this, she books his travel stuff. But she put in the message that he would be staying there alone.”

At first, Donatella thought the guest was merely confirming that she wouldn’t be present and that the booking was solely for her husband. However, given that Airbnb provides all relevant details, she likely already knew this information.

As a result, Donatella deduced that the message could only have one implication – the guest suspected her husband might bring someone else to the property to be unfaithful. She reflected: “Part of my brain was just like, ‘Wait is this person telling me that I should only be expecting their husband and basically if they show up with someone else that like … that’s why she’s telling me?’ Honestly, it’s so far stretched but in reality, because they’ve said that to me, if I did see someone else and I did see a female, you’re getting snaked so fast. I would message her.”

Donatella double-checked the booking to ensure she wasn’t misinterpreting the message, but due to its clarity and brevity, she’s certain the guest wants to be informed if her husband brings someone else.

Commenters on the post commended Donatella for supporting the guest, but some suggested she might be overanalysing the situation. One person shared: “I’ve clarified that it’s just my partner before when booking his Airbnb purely because the host was a lady, and I didn’t want her scared of just a man turning up.”

One person was adamant, saying: “She 100% suspects he’s cheating!” Another chimed in with a personal anecdote: “We had this with an Airbnb guest – I left a review for him saying he and his girlfriend were great guests, and he contacted me immediately asking me to retract it. Turns out it wasn’t his girlfriend. I refused.”
