January has been a month for quiet nights in and binge watching everything on the TV.
It’s been a great month for TV as The Traitors, Love Island, Missing You, Molly-Mae: Behind It All, Playing Nice, Lockerbie: A Search for the Truth and Outlander have had us gripped throughout January, but is the month is coming closer to a close, we’re on the hunt for brand new shows to keep us occupied as we head into February…
We take a look at what’s coming up from our favourite streaming giants…
BBC
Virdee
Virdee is an eexciting new crime thriller series which is based on the best-selling novels by AA Dhand. The six-part series is adapted for the screen by AA Dhand, and is produced by Magical Society for BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Game of Thrones actor Staz Nair is lead detective Harry Virdee.
Set and filmed entirely in Bradford, Virdee tells the story of Detective Harry Virdee, a dedicated cop estranged from his Sikh family after marrying Saima, a Muslim woman.
The show will air on BBC iPlayer on February 6.
The Apprentice
The first episode of series 19 will kick off on January 30. Eighteen brand new candidates will once again battle it out for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment and mentorship.
The new series will be on every Thursday at 9pm.
Miss Austen
Miss Austen is a four-part series adapted from Gill Hornby’s best-selling novel starring Keeley Hawes, Phyllis Logan and Jessica Hynes.
Miss Austen will launch on Sunday, February 3 on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
Netflix
Celebrity Bear Hunt
Holly Willoughby hosts this competition show set in the Costa Rican jungle, where 12 celebrities become prey for legendary survival expert, Bear Grylls. Celebrity Bear Hunt launches on February 6.
Sweet Magnolias
Based on the bestselling novels by Sherryl Woods the fourth season of the show will return to Netflix on February 6.
Disney+
A Thousand Blows
A Thousand Blows is a six-episode drama which delves into the treacherous underbelly of illicit boxing in the smog-filled streets of 1880’s Victorian London.
Viewers will follow the journey of Hezekiah and Alec, portrayed by Malachi Kirby and Francis Lovehall respectively, two inseparable friends freshly arrived from Jamaica who find themselves navigating through their new surroundings.
Battling to survive within the fierce crucible of London, they cross paths with Sugar Goodson, a formidable veteran of the boxing world played by Stephen Graham. The cast is bolstered by stars including Erin Doherty, Ziggy Heath, Jason Tobin and James Nelson-Joyce.
The series will be available for streaming on Disney+ from February 21.
The Kardashians
Season 6 of The Kardashian’s is set to return on Hulu and Disney+ on February 6. The official Kardashian’s account released its trailer last week which hints at utter drama and the return of an old face.
Amazon Prime
There’s no official air date for the second part of the Molly-Mae: Behind It All, however Amazon Prime have said that it will air in Spring 2025 – we will keep our eyes peeled for that release date.
