DALLAS — After a week of anticipation and speculation, the Dallas Cowboys have officially announced Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach.
Schottenheimer, who has nearly 20 years of NFL experience as an offensive coordinator, spent the past two seasons in the same role under Mike McCarthy. His familiarity with the organization likely played a key role in owner Jerry Jones’s decision to promote him.
While Jones and the Cowboys front office celebrated the hire, the reaction on social media has been less enthusiastic. Cowboys fans and critics alike have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to voice their mixed opinions.

Even former Cowboys star Dez Bryant chimed in on the hire, criticizing the way the organization came to the decision and questioning Jones’ truthfulness when saying they were going “all in.”
We don’t know Brian Schottenheimer will be a failure any more than we know Ben Johnson will be a success. Coaching hires are weird & hard to predict. Few people thought highly of Dan Campbell in 2021 etc etc etc.We do know that it REEKS of bad process to fart around for eight…

As you can see, fans aren’t exactly welcoming the first-time head coach with open arms. But who knows, maybe he’s the next great head coach — or maybe he falls into the same path as those who came before him.
One thing is certain: it’s going to be a long offseason.
