While each of the four teams left with a chance to make the Super Bowl have varied histories, this year they have something unique in common.

WASHINGTON — There are now just four teams left with a shot at making the 2025 Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills will face off Sunday to represent the AFC in New Orleans, while the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders will compete for the NFC title.

What do the remaining 4 teams in the NFL playoffs have in common?

While the Super Bowl histories vary for the last four teams in the NFL playoffs, each one has a unique statistic in common.

According to Pro Football Reference, the four remaining teams are the only ones in the league with a fourth down conversion rate over 70%. In this regard, the Washington Commanders lead with 87% conversion rate when going for it on fourth down, followed by the Buffalo Bills (72.7%), then the Kansas City Chiefs (70.6%) and the Philadelphia Eagles (70.4%).

When was the last time the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl?

Kansas City is on a quest to become the first time in NFL history to three-peat in the Super Bowl era. This year marks the seventh time in seven seasons as a starter that Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs reached the AFC championship game.

In last year’s Super Bowl, Mahomes and Kansas City rallied to beat the 49ers, 25-22 in overtime. In 2023, the Chiefs beat the Eagles 38-35.

When was the last time the Buffalo Bills were in the Super Bowl?

The Buffalo Bills are looking to advance to their first Super Bowl since 1994. The team appeared in a record four consecutive Super Bowls from 1991-1994. However, the team is tied with the Minnesota Vikings for the most Super Bowl appearances without winning the big game (4).

When were the Philadelphia Eagles last in the Super Bowl?

The Philadelphia Eagles have made it to the conference championship game for the second time in three years and ninth time in franchise history.

They were most recently in Super Bowl 57, where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35.

In 2018, the Eagles won their first Super Bowl in franchise history. They also made it to the Super Bowl in 2005 and 1981.

When were the Washington Commanders last in the conference championship?

Only five current Commanders were alive the last time the organization reached the NFC title game 33 years ago: LB Bobby Wagner, LB Nick Bellore, TE Zach Ertz, OL Cornelius Lucas and P Tress Way.

Jayden Daniels, who Washington selected with the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft, is one more upset away from becoming the first rookie quarterback to lead his team to the Super Bowl. He is only the sixth to reach a conference championship game. The previous five are Brock Purdy, Mark Sanchez, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger and Shaun King.

Purdy’s 49ers lost at Philadelphia two years ago.

During Washington’s last Super Bowl appearance in 1992, they beat the Buffalo Bills 37-34 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They also made it to the Super Bowl in 1973, 1983, 1984 and 1988.
