Members of Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed have announced plans to establish a wellbeing centre.
The group, which runs workshop projects and activities to help men improve and gain new skills, is actively fundraising for the ambitious project.
And their campaign got off to a flyer as they received a welcome donation from Age Concern Ayr.
Vice chair of Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed, Ronnie Russell, takes up the story.
He said: “We are now fundraising to create a Wellbeing Centre, where we can support Men’s Mental Health and Wellbeing with a quiet room facility where members can meet and chat and get involved in activities to build their self confidence through conversations with other members.
“A friendly, helpful facility is our plan as part of our future.
“And the Age Concern Ayr SCIO volunteers supported our Men’s Shed Charity when we first opened. They are now supporting the Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed as we take the Men’s Shed Charity to a new level!”
Ronnie continued: “The Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed would like to thank Alec Oattes and the trustees at Age Concern Ayr SCIO Volunteers for their support and their donation. They are helping us to make a difference.”
The Ayr and Prestwick Men’s Shed is located at 1A Taylor Street, Ayr, KA8 8AU and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm.
They also offer men the chance to have some companionship and engage in some banter.
