AUSTIN, Texas — A fire at an abandoned bank in North Austin on Sunday morning is now out.
According to the Austin Fire Department, crews responded to the fire at 9800 N. Lamar Blvd., just north of West Rundberg Lane, around 6:30 a.m. after reports of smoke coming from a large white building.
AFD said there was a large amount of fire inside the building due to fire throughout the attic space and the building’s lightweight construction.
By around 8:30 a.m., crews had the fire under control and were putting out hot spots. A drone with thermal imaging capabilities was used to assist with an aerial view of the scene.
By 9:15 a.m., the fire was out. AFD crews will remain on the scene until 2 p.m.
There were no reports of any civilian or firefighter injuries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
