Motherwell Athletics Club held their second annual MAC Cross Country event at Strathclyde Park this month.

A total of 32 athletes took part in the event, with the club’s track and field, and senior endurance sections taking part in three races on January 4.

Coaches Jac Molloy and Ewen Cameron braved freezing temperatures to check the 2km route around the bandstand area of the park, which offered a perfect mix of hills, grass, trails and mud.

Motherwell AC’s under-11s took on the 1km distance and results were:

Coach Jac Molloy said: “There was absolutely fantastic running seen in every race, on the tough, twisty and hilly course, and everyone had a fantastic morning.

“It was an absolutely brilliant day that brought together both sections of our club.

“It’s fantastic seeing our seniors supporting the future of our club, and our juniors cheering on the older athletes that they admire – inspiration at different levels.

“We would like to say a huge thanks to our team of volunteers and coaches for setting up and marshalling the course.”
