One person was killed and eight others wounded in a shooting at a nightclub in Amarillo, Texas, early Sunday, cops said.

John Love Louima, 25, was fatally shot in the attack in downtown Amarillo, the local police department said.

Three suspects — Robert Kenney Knox, 23; Nahryah Hilesta Ines Hayes, 21, and Britt Brinson Cave, 22 — were arrested shortly afterward and face multiple charges, Amarillo police said. The eight wounded victims have not been publicly identified.

Investigators believe the shooting was sparked by an earlier argument inside the club.

Knox, Hayes and Cave were in a vehicle that pulled up in front of a bar just after 2 a.m. Sunday, police said. Hayes was driving the car and Knox hopped out and opened fire into a large crowd with a rifle, according to investigators.

The attackers then sped away from the scene but a witness followed them and called 911 to report their location.

“Thanks to the bravery and persistence of the witness, Randall County Sheriff’s deputies were able to locate and stop the vehicle,” Amarillo police wrote.

Six people, including Louima, were rushed from the scene to local hospitals. Three others arrived in private vehicles, police said. The surviving victims were in “various stages of medical treatment” on Sunday afternoon.

Knox and Hayes were charged with murder, while Cave was only charged with public intoxication.
