RICHLANDS, Va. – As February approaches, the Tazewell County Winter Honey Festival is gearing up once again to offer you a month of activities in the hopes of leaving you buzzing with excitement.
This nectar-filled occasion has been going strong for more than a decade now, with the goal being to educate our community about one of nature’s sweetest insects.
“We established it in 2012, and it originally was purely devoted…to bees, but now we try to involve the whole community and have events that will interest people other than just beekeepers,” explained John Willis, former President of the Winter Honey Festival.
The festival features a hive of events, such as a book discussion, music, vendors located at the Richlands Police Department, a pancake breakfast, and more.
“We’re here as a vehicle for all the other organizations, churches, to do their things, break it all out,” said Willis.
The event kicks off on Feb. 1 at the Historic Crab Orchard Museum in Tazewell.
