Ayrshire coffee aficionados can look forward to trying out the county’s first standalone Starbucks at Ayr Central shopping centre.

Starbucks confirmed the venue for their new Ayr coffee shop after responding to customers on Facebook.

The American coffee giants had previously remained tight lipped about the location of their newest Ayrshire venue.

Currently, the franchise only operates from Sainsbury’s in Prestwick.

Now, coffee buffs in Ayrshire can look forward to sampling a Starbucks from a standalone outlet with the confirmation they will be moving into one of the empty units at Ayr Central.

In November, Ayrshire Live broke the news that Starbucks would be opening a store in Ayr.

At the time, they said: “We’re looking forward to bringing the Starbucks experience to customers in Ayr and will be in touch once we have more specific plans to share.”

Last week, it was revealed that the new store would open in March after the Facebook page Starbucks Ayr confirmed the news.

The page is run by OCO, a hospitality franchise firm which operates Starbucks stores across Scotland.

Both Irvine and Ayr have been touted as the first standalone Starbucks in Ayrshire but no official confirmation has been made on an opening date for the Irvine outlet.

A planning application submitted by Starbucks earlier this year outlined plans for the former Tony Macaroni’s in Irvine.

Founded in 1971 by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl and Gordon Bowker in Seattle, Washington, Starbucks was initially a coffee bean wholesaler before expanding into the coffeehouse chain it is today.
