A bisexual bar worker has won more than £10,000 in a discrimination case after his boss repeatedly referred to him as ‘princess’ at work.

Scott Duncan felt ‘deeply embarrassed’ over the ‘degrading’ remarks made by Albert McPherson at the The Langdykes pub in Aberdeen, an employment tribunal heard.

McPherson also kept calling him a ‘poof’ after he started working at the boozer in 2022 and ‘joked’ that he and a male customer were having an affair.

Duncan – whose partner is female – was sacked the following year after he refused to serve a customer who called him an offensive slur.

He has now successfully sued for sexual orientation discrimination and been awarded £10,994 in damages. Employment Judge James Hendry said: “The offensive comments, which we found proven, were deeply insulting and upsetting for Mr Duncan.

“His workplace had through these comments become an oppressive place for him and the environment degrading.”
